An absolute haven for noodle enthusiasts, the internationally acclaimed HOKKAIDO RAMEN SANTOUKA offers a taste of authentic Japanese comfort food on Level 2 of the Main Mall at SM Mall of Asia. Hailing from Asahikawa, Hokkaido, the restaurant’s primary appeal lies in its dedication to a mild yet rich Tonkotsu broth, which is simmered for up to 18 hours to achieve a signature gentle flavor that remains savory to the very last drop.
The foundation of the Santouka experience is the signature "white" broth, which can be enjoyed with four main seasonings: Shio (salt), Shoyu (soy sauce), Miso, or the spicy Kara-Miso. Their unique selling point is the rare and highly coveted Tokusen Toroniku Ramen, which substitutes the regular Chāshū with melt-in-your-mouth roasted pork cheek meat, a delicacy that is only available in limited quantities each day.
The must-try ramen is their specialty Shio Ramen, famed for its simple, subtle salt seasoning and the small pickled plum (umeboshi) served in the center. Beyond the ramen, the menu is extensive, featuring delicious complements like the Kurobuta pork-filled Chicken Gyoza, crispy Tori Karaage, and a variety of appealing rice bowls and curry sets, making it a reliable destination for a complete and satisfying Japanese meal.
